SUPPORT BEAM

By sponsoring BEAM2018 your company has the opportunity to reach approximately 300 of the top industry decision makers in UK Theatre. For two days key theatre figures will be gathered together for this unprecedented, industry-only event. You will also be supporting the artists who are shaping the future of British musical theatre.

What?

BEAM2018 is a biennial two-day event which will be held the Theatre Royal Stratford East, London in March 2018.  In order for the UK to remain a center of excellent and innovative musical theatre we need to strategically support new writers, encourage industry collaboration and raise awareness of the breadth of work being created. BEAM is designed to do this. The work will be found via 15 innovate pitching days held at key producing venues across the UK.

‘BEAM was a game changer for me. Where else could I have seen 42 pitches in two days? That was me done for the next two years of producing.’ Jim Zalles, producer

‘BEAM was a bit like Cannes – for musicals. And the results were astonishing; brilliantly diverse material that proves musical theatre is alive and well in the UK… it was a celebration of the range and power of British writing talent.’ Kate Golledge, director

The two days will consist of networking events and the showcases themselves. We will be featuring the work of over 40 new writers via 10-minute ‘Follow-Spot’ pitches and 25-minute ‘Spotlight’ extracts. Delegate passes will be available to Venues, Producers, Artistic Directors, Literary Managers, Directors and those industry interested in supporting new musical theatre.

“What was so fantastic about BEAM is that we were able to showcase our work, and support the work of our peers, in an inclusive and celebratory way. The overwhelming result was that, in a stronger sense than I’ve experienced thus far in my career, I was part of a real community. A community I am extremely proud to be a part of.” – Gus Gowland, musical theatre writer

“During the event I was approached by (among others) three producers, two directors, three artistic directors and an agent, none of whom had met me or heard my work before. That led to many meetings, networking opportunities , a musical theatre writing residency, rehearsal space support, agent representation (very excitingly) and so much more. The exposure I received at BEAM helped to boost my profile and contributed enormously to my receiving an award from the PRS for Music Foundation Open Fund. As a result of that award, I was then able to secure Arts Council Funding, and the two combined funded the writing, development, workshop and showcase performance of the first draft of my show, which happened earlier this year. I also made new contacts with singers, directors, and other industry professionals who have since helped me in numerous ways, including providing support and mentorship, not just artistically, but in terms of the business itself, which has been invaluable.” Zara Nunn, Composer and Writer

So, is it worth it? Short answer? DEFINITELY

Half A4 page ad: £500

Full A4 page ad: £800

The programmes are designed to be lasting souvenirs of the event – and also promotional tools for the writing teams. They will contain contact information about each team presenting, as well as specific details about the pieces they are presenting. The programmes will be in circulation, therefore, for a long time after the event itself and represent a lasting archive. We use the programmes whenever we meet Artistic Directors and Producers interested in supporting and developing musical theatre.

We’re aiming to make a very real difference to the musical theatre landscape in the UK. But we need you to help make this happen. So please back BEAM!
