A unique concert for musical theatre, REGENERATE: Lost Songs from the Musicals is an Online

Gala Fundraiser in support of charity Mercury Musical Developments and Musical Theatre Network.

Watch now to hear new or previously unheard songs from titans of musical theatre such as Sir Elton John& Sir Tim Rice (The Lion King, Aida), Lucy Moss & Toby Marlow (SIX), Claude-Michel Schönberg & Alain Boublil (Les Misérables, Miss Saigon), Masi Asare (Paradise Square), Stiles + Drewe (Identical, Mary
Poppins), Adam Guettel (The Light in The Piazza, Floyd Collins), Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Godspell),
Maury Yeston (Nine, Titanic), Andrew Lippa (The Wild Party, The Addams Family), Douglas Hodge (101 Dalmatians), Irene Sankoff & David Hein (Come From Away), Don Black & Debbie Wiseman (Sunset Boulevard, Aspects of Love) and more!

These famous writers have been retrieving their favourite songs cut from classic shows and rummaging

through their bottom drawers, selecting and repurposing beloved melodies and lyrics to premiere an

incredible array of never-before-heard songs for this concert only. The songs are performed by a

glittering array of talent and proceeds from the fundraiser will go to support freelance creatives at

BEAM2023; the UK’s biggest showcase of new musical theatre.

“I’m still experiencing the benefits of participating at BEAM two years on. During the event I was approached by (among others) three producers, two directors, three artistic directors and an agent, none of whom had met me or heard my work before. That led to many meetings, networking opportunities, a musical theatre writing residency, rehearsal space support, agent representation (very excitingly) and so much more. The exposure I received at BEAM helped to boost my profile and contributed enormously to my receiving an award from the PRS for Music Foundation Open Fund.”

After our showcase of ‘The Season’ at BEAM 2018 we found ourselves in conversation with several theatres and producers – conversations we could otherwise never have hoped to hold. As a result, two independent producers agreed to collaborate on the show, which will now receive its first production at Royal & Derngate, Northampton, and New Wolsey, Ipswich, in November 2019. We also secured an agent off the back of the event and subsequently won the Stiles & Drewe Mentorship Award 2018 – a monumental injection of energy which we might not have even applied for without the confidence and encouragement we derived from BEAM. It is almost impossible to exaggerate the significance that moment had on our careers. BEAM has inspired much-needed confidence in the potential of our material, and our ability to produce professional, individual work.”

The Stage

"I’ve never felt a buzz quite like it... while new writing of plays thrives in theatres up and down the land, there’s hardly ever been a truly co-ordinated attempt to develop and promote new musicals from the ground up. Until now... What BEAM2016 did was bring writers and supporters of new musicals to the same party – and make them part of a community... It was an inspiring event – and a provocative one. The future of British musicals may well have been born in those two days."
